Pragma Systems Fortress SSH and Telemote attains FIPS 140-3 Compliance

Enterprise secure shell and remote management suite implements the newest federal FIPS 140-3 cryptographic benchmark, safeguarding mission-critical federal, defense, and enterprise operations.

AUSTIN, Texas - September 3, 2026 - Pragma Systems, Inc., a leading developer of enterprise-grade secure connectivity and remote management software, announced that its core product suite- Pragma Fortress SSH Server, Pragma Fortress SSH Client, and Pragma Telemote-has successfully achieved compliance with the new Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-3 cryptographic requirements. Pragma's software achieves this compliance by using Microsoft's Cryptography Next Generation (CNG) APIs, which route cryptographic operations to the Microsoft Cryptographic Primitives Library. That library module was independently validated by NIST's Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) under Certificate #5410, issued to Microsoft Corporation last month.

FIPS Certificate #5410 issued can be found at https://csrc.nist.gov/projects/cryptographic-module-validation-program/certificate/5410 . Pragma FIPS Compliance information can be found at https://www.pragmasys.com/products/government/fips

This infrastructure upgrade guarantees that federal agencies, defense contractors, and highly regulated industries can continue deploying Pragma's primary access solutions under the newest, legally mandated security frameworks of FIPS 140-3 required for secure government operations.

"Pragma's largest customers have a sigh of relief now that we have attained FIPS 140-3 Compliance", said Quamrul Mina, CTO of Pragma Systems. "US State Department, HSBC and United Healthcare Optum are some of our largest customers who were waiting for our FIPS 140-3 and will now be very pleased to keep deploying our software".

"Maintaining the highest standards of data integrity and remote access security has always been a pillar of our software architecture and with FIPS 140-3 we have attained another milestone," said Beth Redd, Software Product Manager of Pragma Systems.

FIPS 140-3 represents the newest generation of federal security protocols established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Pragma was previously FIPS 140-2 Compliant but FIPS 140-2 certifications sunset on September 21, 2026, so Pragma is now ready to serve customers who need FIPS 140-3 compliant software. FIPS 140-3 updated benchmark demands stricter security controls, advanced data encryption key management, enhanced operational self-tests, and higher resistance to modern cybersecurity side-channel attack vectors. The transition is critically timed, as federal procurement agencies and compliance programs-including FedRAMP, CMMC 2.0, and the DoDIN APL-increasingly require validated FIPS 140-3 components for system deployments.

The newly updated Pragma suite delivers specific compliance upgrades across its security software ecosystem with 2-factor or multi-factor authentication:

  • Pragma Fortress SSH Server: Delivers high-performance, FIPS compliant Secure Shell (SSH) and SFTP services for Windows environments, securing automated file movement and remote command-line execution.
  • Pragma Fortress SSH Client: Ensures secure, authenticated end-user connectivity to remote infrastructure with advanced cryptographic assurance supporting RFC 6187 along with supporting specific formats for RSA, ECDSA, ED25519 keys combined with secure hashes (like SHA-256, SHA-512).
  • Pragma Telemote: Provides FIPS compliant remote desktop access server and client viewers that are secure, enterprise-grade graphical remote control, task automation management, and system triage capabilities across distributed networks.

By utilizing Microsoft's FIPS 140-3 validated Cryptographic Primitives Library, Pragma eliminates compliance exposure for Agentic AI deployment and IT administrators managing high-security networks. Pragma Systems' updated FIPS 140-3 compliant builds for Fortress SSH Server, Fortress SSH Client and Telemote are available immediately for deployment.
