Austin, TX {January 7, 2003} Pragma Systems, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise class Windows servers for Microsoft platforms, entered into a strategic partnership with Grameen Software Ltd. of Bangladesh today at the Grameen Bank Auditorium, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Quamrul Mina, CEO of Pragma Systems, and Dr. Nuimuddin Chowdhury, Managing Director of Grameen Software Ltd signed the Memorandum of Understanding. Professor Muhammad Yunus, Managing Director of Grameen Bank, world pioneer of micro-credit finance, Chairman of Grameen Software and an IT visionary was present as the Chairperson of the ceremony. Habibullah N. Karim, President of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services and Sabur Khan, President of the Bangladesh Computer Samity, also spoke on the occasion.
As part of this relationship, Pragma Systems (Pragma) has taken 25% equity in Grameen Software Ltd. (Grameen) and the parties agreed to collaborate on many levels to become a premier provider of software development and IT services in the fast growing global outsourcing market offering cost saving solutions to companies and enterprises worldwide. Additionally, Pragma will outsource parts of its software development and support operations to the Grameen facility in Bangladesh. The strategic partnership gives Pragma Systems a reliable partner in the prime South Asian marketplace and gives Grameen a proven North American partner working together to bring clients impeccable products and IT services from both regions to customers around the world. This relationship will turn Grameen Software into a major software exporting company in Bangladesh and Grameen-Pragma will become a globally recognizable brand with an on-shore operation in the USA and an off-shore facility in Bangladesh.
