Telnet allows multiple users from a variety of different operating systems like UNIX, Linux, Macintosh, Windows, Mainframes and more to access a remote Windows computer via telnet and run console/character based programs simultaneously. These remote telnet clients have access to the programs on the remote Windows computer and can run them as if they were sitting at that remote computer even though they may not be using a Windows computer themselves. Hundreds of RF handheld units can connect to the Windows computer and run applications through telnet, an ideal set up for warehousing, inventory and distribution environments.
Many remote telnet clients use the telnet server to remotely manage Windows computers from any computer. Systems administrators and IT professionals are able to access the remote computer from any location and perform systems management tasks like: remotely reboot/shutdown the computer, kill runaway processes, edit group/user information and much more all from the command line. Pragma Telnet Server is highly efficient for systems management due to the fact that it is character based, there is less slowdown because there is not enormous amounts of graphical information being passed through the pipeline.
