Installation

Login as a user who has Administrator privileges. Run setup.exe. Pragma TelnetServer will begin to install. During the install, the system path is modified by adding the Pragma TelnetServer Clients directories. These changes will not be active in any command prompt window open during the install, or in any session. The path will be active in any new command prompt window opened after completion of the install. The path will be active in a session after restart of the server.

Follow the steps, given during the installation.

If any files were locked while installing Pragma TelnetServer, the machine will need to be restart in order for the installation to complete and the dialog asking to reboot will appear. Please reboot the machine if this dialog occurs. The product cannot work correctly until the machine has been restart. The correct files must reside on the machine. Erroneous errors could occur due to mismatched files.

Patching

Some versions can be patched without uninstalling the current build. Please check the readme files at www.pragmasys.com/Telnet/Download to see if your current version/build/revision can be patched.

Silent Install

A silent install can be performed by adding using the following command with the download package:

start /WAIT Telnet_x64.exe /S /v/qn /w /v"/l*v installation_log_file SETTINGS_FILE=installation_settings_file"

where installation_log_file is the file name with full path of where the installation log file should be created. The path must exist. For example, c:\temp\telnet_install.log and installation_settings_file is the file name with full path of the XML configuration file. For example c:\temp\telnet_settings.xml. Please see Installation Settings File for more information.
