Configuring Services in InetD

Each service monitored by InetD is defined with the Configure Service dialog.

 Service Properties:

 Service  Name of the application

Application  The application to be launched, including full path

 Arguments   Any command-line arguments

/modem – add this argument to allow a modem on a configured COM port to listen for terminal connections (Terminal Server only)

Network Properties:

TCP/IP Port   Specify the TCP/IP port that the application uses (if applicable). This number must be unique to this service. If another InetD service is monitoring this port, the user will be notified to change the port number.

Protocol   Specify either TCP or UPD (if applicable)

Type    consoleprograms designed to run in a console

stream – programs which require direct input, without screen formatting information

gui – programs which open a separate window or dialog

Enabled Turn on to have InetD monitor this service

Service Logon:

All applications configured to use InetD inherit, by default, the InetD service’s permissions and security. To run an application with different security and permissions than that of InetD, specify a User Name, Password, and Domain of the account under which to run the configured application. The user account must have the "Logon as Service" access right for this to work.

Serial Options:

This button will be enabled for any serial service for Pragma TerminalServer. This dialog is used to configure serial ports.

Com Port: Select the port to configure.

Baud, Data Bits, Stop Bits: Enter the appropriate values for Baud, Data Bits, and Stop Bits to match the connecting client.

Display Message on Connect: Turn the box off to remove the message report to client that it is connected.

Send Data to Start Session: If this box is checked, the user will have to manually send data to the server to initiate the session, otherwise the session will start automatically. If this option is off, a new session will start automatically when the user logs off. Turning off the terminal, or disconnecting the modem will cause the session to exit.

Modem: Check this box if the serial port is a modem.

Initialization String: Enter an AT sequence to initialize the modem. This value should include the AT start, plus any special characters like carriage returns if required by the modem. Check the modem documentation for required sequences. Use the sequence "\r" to enter a carriage return.
