Pragma Breathes New Life Into Terminals
Pragma Releases an Enriched Pragma TerminalServer 6.0 for Windows .NET and Windows XP/2000
AUSTIN, Texas {October 28, 2002} -- Pragma Systems, Inc. releases Pragma TerminalServer 6.0 loaded full of improvements and new time saving management features. Those “green” screen terminals are still around and TerminalServer allows various types of terminals (ANSI, Digital VT 100, VT 220, VT 320, VT 420, WYSE 50, WYSE 60 and IBM ASCII) to be connected to Windows via COM ports or Async modems. Multiple terminals can be connected to Windows and run console or character mode applications. Application support includes 32-bit, 16-bit DOS, 16-bit OS/2 and NT POSIX. For example, applications like edit, vi, emacs, tree, dir, compiler, net and custom applications can be run from within terminal sessions. Pragma TerminalServer 6.0 includes: the TerminalServer, InetD, Telnet Manager and Pragma Session Management Program.
The new TerminalServer features include: increased number of terminal connections; optimized for quicker connections; users can now activate an evaluation version with a registration key, allowing users to keep the configurations they had set up with the evaluation version and not having to re-install the full version; configuring users by group, for easier user management; easier to understand error reporting, higher performance, allowing larger amount of client connections; new revised HTML online help file format; and more.
Pragma TerminalServer 6.0 extends Windows multi-user capability into the world of terminals. Many operations currently use UNIX type computers as the server backend for terminal uses. Pragma brings the power of Windows providing a cost effective solution.
With Pragma TerminalServer, point of sales applications can be run in Windows and accessed from various terminals. Retail stores, Banks, Reservation desks and Educational institutions can use it to provide multiple user access to Windows computers as their backend server for ease of use, wider application support, familiarity of the platform and as a cost effective solution for running their custom applications.
TerminalServer is also used for remote systems management. Administrators dial in via async modems and login to a Windows computer which is not available over telnet. To aid in diagnostics, if a Windows GUI becomes unresponsive, Terminal login can be performed over the COM port to access the machine. Process status can be obtained and corrective action is taken to remedy the situation.
Pragma Terminal 6.0 is US$399 each (for 2 COM connections). Additional ports/connections are available for US$99 per COM port and port volume discounts are available.
