Pragma FortressCL - Getting Started

Using Pragma FortressCL is very simple. Once the program is installed, run the program from the shortcut on the Desktop or from Windows Start menu. Pragma FortressCL is a 2-in-1 SSH-Telnet client. FortressCL implements the SSH protoocol as well as the standard Telnet protocol. FortressCL supports both SSH1 & SSH2 protocols. For Telnet protocol, FortressCL follows the specifications from RFC 854 and RFC 855. RFC's, Request For Comments, are instructions for the internet. They describe communication standards, so that dissimilar hardware can communicate. RFC 854 and 855 are included here under the Telnet Background... Telnet Protocol Specification and Telnet Option Specification.

To launch FortressCL, click on the FortressCL icon on the Desktop or launch it from the Windows Start menu. When the program first runs, FortressCL Site Manager dialog will open, which is used to create, remove, and modify new connections. Use the Wizard or Add button to create a new profile. Each profile will need a minimum of host address, port, and authentication method. If the password method is selected, then a username must be entered.

After adding a profile, choose the profile to connect, and click the Connect button to connect to the host.

FortessCL will connect to the remote host and you will be at the Telnet prompt. Close the session using the Disconnect menu item or toolbar button.

Each instance of FortressCL can be connected to a single host. Once disconnected, a new session can be started. If multiple sessions need to occur simultaneously, run separate instances of FortressCL.
